Requirements for Obtaining a Business License:

• City of Marshall Business License Application
Request this form in person, by mail or by fax
• Certificate of Occupancy
This form refers to the structure where the business is to be located
(Home, Office or Store Front, and in some cases a mobile unit)
• Missouri Retail Sales License
You must have this license if you are selling any tangible items.
Obtain this license through the Missouri Department of Revenue

• Fictitious Name Registration, Articles of Incorporation, Limited Liability
Company or Limited Liability Partnership
You must obtain one of these if the name of the business does not include
the first and last name of the owner

Construction Contractors with 1 or more employees must provide certificate of coverage

License Fee is determined by the type of business. Please contact the
Office of the City Clerk for details.

All Business Licenses must be renewed by March 1st of each year
Licenses not renewed will be considered delinquent April 1st and a penalty of 10% per month will be assessed.

• If you have a change of status in your business, such as business name,
Change of ownership, change of address or going out of business it is your responsibility to notify the Office of the City Clerk.

Requirements for Obtaining a Liquor License:

• Documented Proof of Being a Tax Payer in Missouri
• Documented Proof of Being a Registered Voter in Missouri
• Social Security Number
If you have been convicted of any liquor violations you will not be eligible. A complete background check will be done by the Chief of Police
• All liquor license applications will be subject to approval by the Chief of Police and the Marshall City Council
